Thompson's Point
Indie pop’s supernatural sensations are circling back with an extended North American run promoting their fifth studio album. Watch out for Part 2 of Vampire Weekend’s “Only God Was Above Us” Tour! Here in Portland, the two-time GRAMMY Award winners will perform their latest music (and Gold/Platinum hits from earlier sessions) this 29th of May 2025 at Thompson’s Point, with opening support from post-punk outfit Geese.
Eclectic in all the right veins, Vampire Weekend offers their new Top 30 album, featuring the hit singles “Capricorn” (Billboard AAA Top 4), “Gen-X Cops,” “Classical,” and “Mary Boone.” Only God Was Above Us will transport you on a “self-mythological journey into old sounds, old haunts, and old cities” as it lays out the pieces of New York’s wavering memories. Fronted by Ezra Koenig, this indie act also gives you alt-rock/baroque pop gems to the tune of “A-Punk,” “Oxford Comma,” and “Harmony Hall.” Get your Vampire Weekend tickets soon!
Vampire Weekend’s “Only God Was Above Us” Tour is a successful wrap. But how about a second coming? Last February, the double GRAMMY Award-winning trio confirmed Part 2 of their new album’s headlining tour, bookended in May and September by a slate of local and overseas music festivals. Special guest Geese will open this May 29, 2025, during the band’s appearance at Thompson’s Point in Portland, presented by the annual State Theatre Concert Series.
Eyeing 23 destinations throughout Europe and North America, Vampire Weekend extends support of Only God Was Above Us (2024), their universally acclaimed fifth full-length album. Released via Columbia Records, it features the lead single “Capricorn” (which garnered a Top 4 peak on Billboard’s Triple-A chart) and entered the Top 30 of US albums as a whole (and a Top 8 finish in Rock & Alternative). Experience what NME describes as “a sprawling, technicolor ode to a long-gone, old New York City” in their glowing 4-star review, a remark resoundingly shared by many critic circles and trade publications. Band members Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, and Chris Tomson are ecstatic to play this record once more under concert lights, with its crowd hit “Classical,” the timely “Gen-X Cops,” the subversively bright “Mary Boone,” and the beautifully poignant “Hope.”
Vampire Weekend mastered an eclectic blend of indie rock and baroque pop, influenced by wide-ranging genres like ska, hip-hop, Afro-pop, and other alternative styles. Apart from their new release, they offer a spellbinding experience across a Platinum-certified debut and three Billboard No. 1 sequels. These albums include Gold singles and breakthroughs. Among the most-anticipated set additions are “A-Punk,” “Oxford Comma,” “This Life,” “Diane Young,” and “Harmony Hall.”
